Reading Tablature
Tablature is system for notating music that is generally
considered easier for novices to understand than standard
musical notation. Some argue that tablature is an impediment
to true proficiency in folk music, stressing that you should
rather try to develop your ear by listening and trying to
"sound out" the tune. However, for beginners, I
think it is an invaluable tool that will let you develop your
repertoire of tunes so that you can quickly get started playing
with others.
